COLONIE – After he waived extradition, town police picked up the suspect in the March 23 bank robbery and brought him back to town on Wednesday, March 28.
Joseph Bonesteel, 31, of Troy, allegedly entered the NBT Bank at 11:39 a.m., handed the teller a note demanding money and fled with an unknown amount of cash.

About eight hours later, Pennsylvania State Police spotted a vehicle matching the one sent out by Colonie police in Milford, Pennsylvania, and Bonesteel was arrested.
Upon his return to the Capital District, he was arraigned in Colonie Town Court on the felonies of grand larceny and robbery.
A portion of the money was recovered. The investigation into the whereabouts of the remaining money is ongoing.
The investigation was aided by the media, the public, the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center, Pennsylvania State Police and the New York State Police.
