ALBANY – The high Saturday, Dec. 16, was about 30 degrees, but for the 12th consecutive year scores of brave souls stripped down to speedos and sprinted up and down Lark Street.
The garb, though, for the annual Santa Speedo Sprint was not limited to speedos, or seasonal (in)appropriate attire. The shark-themed team was back, as was the robot and this year there was even a dinosaur. Some costumes, as in year’s past, are just impossible to define, characterize or even logically explain.
But, that’s all part of the day.
The other part is all proceeds from the $25 registration fee are headed to the Albany Damien Center and the HIV/AIDS Center at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Over the years, more than $108,000 has been raised.
