Law enforcement handed out 42 tickets to people illegally parking in handicapped spots as part of the annual “Project Access.”
According to Sheriff Craig D. Apple, the sweep began on Friday, Nov. 24, and lasted through Sunday Nov. 26.
Colonie police issues by far the most parking tickets with 31, Guilderland police were a distance second with six and deputies from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office issued five.
The tickets represent a total of $5,430 in fines.
Since the program was implemented on Dec. 7, 1994, there have been 60 enforcement details conducted, resulting in 2,819 tickets worth a total of $346,285 in fines.
