State Police troopers pulled a despondent man off a railing of the Patroon Island bridge on Sunday at around 8 a.m.
The Latham barracks received several 911 calls about the man sitting on the south side barrier. It was first reported by an off-duty State Police captain who called Troop G headquarters about the man.
Troopers took positions to the side of and rear of the man – who is only identified as a 25-year-old from Watervliet – and, after talking to him didn’t work, were able to pull him back onto the bridge.
Traffic was impacted on the eastbound lanes of the bridge for about 15 minutes.
The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital by ambulance for an evaluation.
