COLONIE – A 32-year-old Albany man turned himself in to answer questions about a camera hidden in a Starbucks bathroom after he saw his photo on various media outlets.
Jonathan Waters, of 60 New Shaker Road, now faces a felony of unlawful surveillance, according to Lt. Robert Winn.
The camera, hidden in a USB wall charger, was found on March 18 by an employee of the Wolf Road coffee shop. It was determined it was only there for about 25 minutes and recorded just three people, who were located and interviewed.
Police searched his home and found other covert cameras and media storage devices. Those items will be forensically examined by State Police. Due to the nature of the charge and the items located at his residence, there is a possibility of additional unreported incidents.
He was arraigned on Thursday, May 4, at 4 a.m. and was sent to the Albany County jail.
