Registration is now closed for the popular December 10 race;
public invited to cheer on the runners and watch the fireworks show

ALBANY — The St. Peter’s Cardiac & Vascular Center Albany Last Run 5K returns to downtown Albany for its 20th year this Saturday at 5 p.m.

Limited to 1900 runners, the race sold out in advance for the eighth year in a row. The public is invited to cheer on the runners and enjoy a fireworks show in front of the New York State Capitol at 4:45 p.m. Road closures and temporary parking restrictions related to the event can be found here.

Presented by the City of Albany and St. Peter’s Cardiac & Vascular, the Last Run 5K is an Albany winter tradition and a great race for all ages, featuring a beautiful course through Capital Holiday Lights in Washington Park. Colorful costumes, twinkling lights and good cheer fuel the runners through this one-of-a-kind cold-weather race. Awards recognition takes place after the run at the Empire State Plaza at the base of the Egg, featuring age-based divisional awards and random prize drawings.

Registered runners will have multiple opportunities to pick up their race packets this year:

  • Thursday, December 8, 4 to 7 p.m. at ARE Event Productions Office (21A Railroad Ave, Albany)
  • Friday, December 9, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Albany City Hall (24 Eagle St, Albany)
  • Day of race, 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the base of the Egg, Empire State Plaza, Albany (enter at Vietnam Memorial entrance on State St)

For additional information, call the City of Albany Office of Special Events & Cultural Affairs at 518.434.2032, visit www.albanyevents.org or follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @albanyNYevents.

The Last Run 5K is presented by St. Peter’s Cardiac & Vascular Center, and sponsored by CDPHP, M & T Bank, MVP Health Care, CDTA & Price Chopper. Media support provided by 100.9 The Cat, Fly 92, JAMZ 96.3, Spiral Design Studios and Albany.com.
