Hillary Clinton
When did you become political? Was there any specific events in your life that caused you to become actively involved?
Through my union, 1199SEIU, I became aware of the connection between politics, and funding for nursing homes and hospitals.
Medicaid and Medicare money that funds healthcare is part of state and federal budgets.
Do your political affiliations reflect those of your immediate friends and family or not? Do you discuss those things?
Not always, but for this primary it seems we are all on the same page. As I became more politically involved, my family became politically aware. I gave my granddaughter a voter registration form as part of her present for her 18th birthday and will do the same for my granddaughter in December.” My daughter in Virginia took a picture of her “I VOTED” sticker and sent it to me when they had their primary.
What are the issues in this election that are most important to you and how will they affect you and your loved ones? How do you see your candidate’s platform as addressing those issues?
As a middle-class person, it’s getting harder and harder to remain that way. I think Hillary’s tax and economic policies will help and most important, I think she can get them done. I feel this way not only for me, but also for my kids and grand children — for the future. I want them to do better than we did, not worse.
What was the most memorable part of the rally/rallies you attended?
I go to political rallies pretty often so I’m not necessarily in awe at those events, but I’m going door to door to get out the vote now and I love to have those conversations. I think more people are engaged in this primary election
than I’ve ever seen before.
