When a community member is in need of help, the Town of Guilderland rises to the occasion. That is exactly what has happened at the past two Guilderland Community Festivals.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, the Guilderland community will gather together for a day of family fun organized with a single goal in mind: to help the Rodino family. The Rodinos have been struggling with providing around-the-clock care for three family members all battling Huntington’s Disease. This debilitating illness took the life of their daughter, Rachel, in 2010. Now, father Rick and their two other children, Anthony and Gianna, are all at different stages of this illness – a disease which has no cure.
Guilderland Community Fest will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Tawasentha Park in Guilderland. It includes an afternoon of music, food and fun for the whole family. Attendees will enjoy free food and kids’ activities such as pony rides, a bounce house, pumpkin painting and an obstacle course. Local vendors and businesses will also have tables set up to share information about their organization or to offer their goods for sale. All proceeds will go directly to the Rodino family.
Guilderland Community Fest is presented by Christ’s Church Guilderland, in cooperation with friends and neighbors of the Rodino family, Guilderland Parks and Recreation and the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce.
If your business/organization would like to support the event, please contact Dawn Jacobson at 588-5916 or email [email protected]. More information about the Rodino family can be found at www.rodinofamily.com.
