State Police said shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday, May 4, a 2013 Volvo tractor-trailer allegedly struck and killed a Rome man, who was in the center of three southbound lanes on I-87.
Police said David M. Miller, 28, was hit around mile marker 143 on the highway. A preliminary investigation has determined Miller was alone at the time. An Albany County coroner removed Miller from the scene and transported him to Albany Medical Center.
No charges have been filed against the 40-year-old Freeville man who hit Miller. Police did not release the tractor-trailer driver’s name.
The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Collision Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate the accident.
The Albany Fire Department, Mohawk Ambulance and the Thruway Authority assisted State Police at the scene of the incident.
