Altamont Elementary School students on bus route 46 were involved in what district officials called a “minor accident” on their ride home, but there were no injuries reported.
Guilderland Central School District emailed parents around 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, about the incident and said students on that route would be delayed. The district then sent another email around 20 minutes later indicating the bus was “back in service and continuing the route.”
Superintendent of Schools Marie Wiles said the district sent the emails so parents would not worry about their children arriving home late.
“It was a very minor accident,” Wiles said. “This was nothing at all major.”
Wiles described the incident as a “fender bender,” with the bus allegedly making a turn and clipping the side of a car. She said Thursday evening that it was not determined yet who was at fault in the crash.
