NYS Police reported on Friday, Jan. 11 they were investigating an apparent suicide that occurred in the early morning hours on the Shenendahowa Central School main campus in Clifton Park.
The identity of the 42-year-old male is not being released at this time.
According to authorities, troopers were called to the scene after a 911 call was placed by a relative at the scene.
Attempts to resuscitate the victim were unsuccessful and the man, who lived near the campus, was declared dead at the scene by Saratoga County Cororner Thomas Salvadore.
Police say no weapons were involved in the incident and there were no indications of foul play. Police also said that no further information would be released at this time as the incident is still under investigation.
According to a statement released by the public information office at Shenendahowa, the victim had no affiliation to the school district
New York State Police Spokesman Mark Cepiel also would not comment. He said normally no information would be released on a suicide.
“The only reason we chose to release information was because of the location of the victim,” he said. “We wanted to put peoples’ minds at rest.”
Cepiel also said the identity of the victim would not be released, even at the end of the investigation.
The body was removed and transported to Saratoga Hospital for an autopsy, which may be completed as early as Friday afternoon.
According to the Shenendahowa website, a message was sent to parents and staff.
