A benefit dinner will be held for Zack Johnson, a Troy High School student, and his diabetic-alert dog, Alan, Saturday, Nov. 10, at the American Legion in Wynantskill. Alan is the first diabetic-alert dog delivered to the Northeast by Guardian Angel, an organization that allows recipients to pay for their service animals over time by holding fundraisers. Alan is able to sense changes in Zack’s blood sugar, allowing him to make needed adjustments before it gets too high or low.
The dinner will feature a pig roast, door prizes and entertainment. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $5 for kids 6-10. Doors open at 1 p.m. Donations can also be made online at www.guardianangelservicedogs.org. For more information, call 210-8126.
