Reporter Marcy Velte reports from Bill Reinhardt HQ that Reform Dems feel they’ve made some significant gains tonight, perhaps enough to upset the balance of power on the town Democratic Committee.
`We’re all very excited,` said Town Board candidate Reinhardt. `People are identifying with how we’re operating… and they want a change.`
UPDATE
Velte reports at Jack Cunningham’s camp internal figures put the Town Board race at about 90 votes apart… with 200 absentee ballots out.
Albany
Despite having nearly certainly claimed victory in the Albany County DA’s race, reporter Zan Strumfeld notes from David Soares HQ at about 10:30 p.m. the candidate has not yet shown himself.
Saratoga
Reporter Julie Rigg reports the mood at Roy McDonald HQ is tense. Returns show him in a close race with Kathleen Marchione for the Republican line in the 43rd Senate.
UPDATE
With fewer than 100 votes separating the candidates, McDonald has addressed his supporters but neither declared victory nor defeat as of 10:45.
Schenectady
Reporter John Purcell is with Joseph Landry’s camp in downtown Schenectady and says as of 10:40, it’s been accepted the Niskayuna supervisor has little chance of capturing the 110th Assembly.
UPDATE
After addressing supporters, Landry spoke with Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy about the campaign. Landry cleaned up in Schenectady County but faltered across the border in Albany County (where his opponents hail from) taking less than 10 percent of the total vote there.
`We thought we would do better in Albany County,` Landry told Purcell. `We just were not able to do as well as we thought.`
