Fire officials battle sweeper blaze in Glenmont

Selkirk and Elsmere fire departments responded to a vehicle fire around 7 a.m. this morning in the parking lot of the Lowe’s store in Glenmont. The burning vehicle, which produced a black column of smoke that could be seen for miles is reported to be a street sweeper belonging to RTS Inc. of Green Island. Bethlehem police are investigating the cause of the fire.
