Members of the Selkirk Fire Department joined the family and friends of Jake Snide in welcoming the Marine home from a tour in Afghanistan at about midnight on Saturday, June 2, at the Albany International Airport.
Snide’s fellow firefighters brought a fire engine to give him a proper welcome back and presented him with his fire helmet. His flight was originally scheduled to arrive at 7:10 p.m. but he was delayed in Tokyo.
Selkirk Fire Department Chief Bill Asprion said he was happy to have Snide back with the force, though it will only be for a short time. Snide has orders to return to Tokyo in a month’s time.
