Snip-its in Guilderland, part of a fast-growing chains of children’s hair salons, is hosting a fundraiser during the month of April to benefit Autism Speaks, the leader in research development, awareness and advocacy for families and children affected. Customers are encouraged to stop by the salon during the month of April, which has been designated National Autism Awareness Month, to make a donation. Each customer who donates will receive a puzzle piece (the symbol of autism and logo for Autism Speaks) to place in the salon.
Snip-its salons have long been supporting families and children with autism. The Snip-its Corporation, together with Autism Speaks, created a haircutting guide for stylists and parents of children with autism to help prepare the kids for the salon experience. All of Snip-its’ stylists are trained to work with children with autism and other special needs.
“We are firm believers in the Snip-its concept,” said Denise Deitz -Morgan, owner of Snip-its Guilderland. “It’s about creating an environment to meet all children’s needs so they feel comfortable and leave the salon with the most positive experience possible.”
