Town of Ballston Town Supervisor Patti Southworth has been appointed as chairperson for the Independent Party for Saratoga County. The Independent Party State Committee voted on the position last night, and Southworth’s appointment was effective immediately.
“I’m happy about the position…following in the footsteps of Lee Kolesnikoff will be quite a feat. I’ll be continuing the work he started having been most known for being fair and looking at candidates as individuals, not at what party they’re from,” Southworth said.
She also said she will carry on the tradition of the party’s good values and good government.
Southworth said the new position will entail a lot of extra work in addition to her supervisor duties, though she is proud to be doing both.
Southworth recently started her third term as Ballston supervisor. She was first elected to office as a Democrat, but switched her affiliation to Independence in 2008.
