Former Town of Bethlehem Supervisor Jack Cunningham will not be seeking appointment to the Town Board seat recently vacated by Mark Jordan, after all.
Cunningham sent a letter to the League of Women Voters shortly before a public forum on the matter held last night. In the letter, he wrote his interest in the seat would impede the progress of the town.
The forum still consisted of the examination of eight candidates put forth by Supervisor John Clarkson, in addition to former Town Board candidate Jeremy Martelle.
The Town Board is expected to select an appointment for the open seat at its organizational meeting Wednesday, Jan. 11. There will be a special election in November so voters can decide who fills the remainder of the term on the seat, which is until the end of 2013.
