The sun was shining for most of the day in Bethlehem, and candidates for town offices are hoping that it helped get voters out to the polls.
Speaking with candidates just after the polls closed, it was unclear what kind of turn-out could be expected in this election.
Supervisor candidate John Clarkson said he heard mixed messages, some that turn-out was strong, and others that turn-out was light.
Opponent Kyle Kotary said turn-out was “kinda moderate to light.”
Town Board candidate Jeremy Near said that it was strong in the southern part of the town, which could be a good sign, as that area is known as a stronghold for Republicans in Bethlehem.
Fellow Republican Jeremy Martelle said he’d heard nothing about turn-out, but expected that the nice weather played a role in getting more people out to the polls.
