An accident on Depot Road in Guilderland closed the road for about two hours on Thursday, June 9, and sent a New Scotland teen to the hospital.
Guilderland police are investigating the single-car accident, which occurred at about 4:05 p.m. Police said a 2010 Suzuki operated by Mitchell Joyce, 19, crossed the westbound lane, left the roadway, went into the front yard of a residence and struck a tree.
Joyce had to be extricated from the car by the Guilderland Center Fire Department and was then transported to Albany Medical Center by a Lifenet helicopter.
Police are still investigating the accident, but said it’s not believed alcohol was a factor. Witnesses are asked to contact Guilderland police at 356-1501.`
