The Bethlehem Democratic Party has endorsed Councilman Kyle Kotary for town supervisor.
The party met Tuesday, May 24, to make its endorsements for the 2011 election. Last week, Kotary won the favor of the Republican Party, meaning that he would appear in the top two positions on the ballot unless another candidate can force and win a primary.
I think it bodes well for our campaign as we move forward, and I think it speaks to, one, what I’ve done so far as a Town Board member and working across party linesas well as the message I’m running on, Kotary said.
Supervisor Sam Messina also interviewed with both parties. Last week, he said it’s too early to say what direction he will take when the petitioning period opens in early June. As an Independence Party member Messina could only wage an opportunity to ballot drive to open the line and have voters write his name in on the primary.
The town’s third-party committees have yet to make endorsements. Both candidates for supervisor are interviewing with all of them.
The Democratic Party also endorsed Councilwoman Joann Dawson and Jeffrey Kuhn for Town Board (Councilman Mark Hennessey is not seeking reelection), Nanci Moquin for Town Clerk and Councilman Mark Jordan for town justice.
