The Niskayuna girls lacrosse team nearly pulled off its biggest win of the season Tuesday, but Guilderland had other plans.
Erin Mossop scored the tying goal late in the second half and assisted on Kelly Camardo’s game-winning tally in overtime to lead the Lady Dutch to a 14-13 Suburban Council victory over the Silver Warriors Tuesday.
Niskayuna (7-3) led 7-5 at halftime, but Guilder-land (10-1) struck for eight goals in the second half to force overtime. Neither team scored until the third overtime period when Camardo struck for her second goal of the game.
Mossop led the way for the Lady Dutch with seven goals. Shelby Iapoce contributed two goals and an assist, and goaltender Jess Madsen stopped seven of the 20 shots she faced.
Kayla Treanor tallied four times, and Alyssa Treanor added a hat trick for Niskayuna. Austen Radcliff made seven saves in goal.
The Silver Warriors host Columbia Thursday before traveling to Shenendehowa Monday, May 9.
In other action, Scotia-Glenville fell to South Glens Falls 22-11 in Monday’s Capital District Women’s Lacrosse League game.
The Bulldogs built a three-goal halftime lead and then broke the game open with a 12-4 run in the second half.
Katelyn Auer scored six goals, and Jackie Atkins chipped in with three goals and four assists for South Glens Falls. Nina Marshall and Ally Naja also had hat tricks.
Katelyn Roddy tallied four times for Scotia-Glenville. Amanda Sweeney scored three goals, and goaltender Melina Pereyra made nine saves.`
