Clifton Park Town Councilman, Thomas E. Paolucci announced Tuesday, March 8, that he will not seek reelection for a fourth term in the upcoming local elections this November.
Paolucci said the last 11 years as councilman were extremely rewarding but new demands he’s facing will not allow him the time to serve on the Town Board once his term expires.
`I have been very fortunate that up until now I have been able to balance a demanding career with Verizon Communications, with my family obligations and my public service. As I look ahead however, I look forward spending more time with my son (Thomas) who will be finishing high school during the next two years and taking advantage of other opportunities at Verizon,` said Paolucci in a statement.
Paolucci is currently a manager with Verizon with responsibility for Global Network electricity consumption reduction.
Paolucci said among the things he’s most proud of during his tenure with the Town Board is `aggressive` elimination of debt resulting in Clifton Park being debt free and negotiating the purchase of the 270 acres of open space that is now the Dwaskill Nature preserve.
`I cherished the opportunity to listen to the residents at public forums and hearings because they have some really good ideas about where we should go with our community. From the beginning, I listened and learned a lot and the result has been some really good outcomes for our town like the really great plan we now have for Garnsey Park, or the very popular redesign of Ushers Road that I worked with residents on,` said Paolucci in a statement.
Paolucci said though he won’t have time to serve as councilman, he will continue to look for ways to give back to the community.
