The Town of Bethlehem received word this afternoon it was not the winning bidder in a process to acquire the Normanside Country Club’s debt.
That would have opened the door to the town acquiring the course and running its own operation there. Supervisor Sam Messina said the Bank of America has not yet completed the sale, and thus the amount of the town’s bid is still being held confidential.
The Town of Bethlehem is hopeful that the new owner of Normanside will keep this unique property as a golf course and of open space, Messina said.
A Bank of America representative said earlier today a decision would not be coming until later in the week. She did not disclose the number of bids but said `there was a high level of interest.`
The bank also indicated it would not announce the winner of the bid.“
