The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake girls soccer team is heading back to Cortland for the Class A state semifinals.
The Lady Spartans (17-4-0) downed Section X champion Massena 4-0 in last Saturday’s regional final to advance to Friday’s Final Four at Homer High School. BH-BL meets Section VIII champion Garden City.
Marina Georgio, Bryony Striffler, Jess Lyden and Sky Kaler tallied for the Lady Spartans, who are making their fifth trip to states in the last six years.
The winner of Friday’s state semifinal meets either Rye (Section I) or Pittsford Mendon (Section V) in Saturday’s Class A cham-pionship game at SUNY Cortland.
In boys soccer regional action last weekend, Section III champion Baldwinsville held on for a 3-2 win over Saratoga Springs in last Saturday’s Class AA regional at Liverpool High School.
The Bees jumped out to a 3-0 lead before goals by Ercan Killic and Morgan Smith drew the Blue Streaks within a goal.
Saratoga finished the season with a 13-3-4 record and its first Sectional title.`
