Saratoga Springs City Police said they have recovered more than 20 vehicle emblems and hubcap covers that were stolen from parked vehicles between Aug. 15 and Sept. 3 and have identified six individuals involved in the thefts, all juveniles.
According to information from the department, during that period police received over 25 reports of vehicle emblems and hubcap covers being stolen during the overnight hours. Police believe that the juveniles used a small pry bar to remove the emblems from a variety of vehicles throughout the city, and mainly involved vehicles parked in the driveway or on the street in front of private residences. Some of the vehicle sustained minor damage as a result of the emblems being pried off and the value of the stolen items and damage to the vehicles has not yet been determined.
Police said the cases will be handled in Family Court.
Police have been able to contact many of the owners of the recovered emblems, however not all of the recovered stolen items have been linked to the owners yet. Police are asking any one who may have been the victim of one of these thefts and have not yet reported the incident to police to do so. Police may be contacted at 584-1800 or at the department’s website, www.saratogapolice.org.
