A collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle in Saratoga Springs on Tuesday, Nov. 2, resulted in serious injury to the cyclist, according to information from city police. On Wednesday, Nov. 3, police released information saying the cyclist was issued tickets.
According to police reports, around 4:25 p.m., police received a 911 call from an
employee of Kohl’s Department store reporting a serious personal injury accident on Weibel Avenue in the City of Saratoga Springs. The accident occurred at the entrance to the Hannaford and Kohl’s shopping complex.
Police said a 1999 Dodge Dakota being operated by Robert Dougal, 58, of Schuylerville was stopped in the intersection waiting to make a left turn into the Hannaford complex. At that time, a 2005 Kawasaki Motorcycle being operated by a William Varley, 20, of Saratoga Springs was heading south on Weibel Avenue in the right lane when he struck the front of the Dodge Dakota.
Varley sustained serious injuries to his legs and was taken by Med-Flight to Albany Medical Center. Dougal did not sustain any injuries.
Varley, who is still in serious condition, was issued traffic tickets for unreasonable speed and reckless driving for his involvement in the accident, according to police.
