On Thursday, Oct. 28, the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit with the assistance of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Mayfield, arrested a Saratoga County man for possessing and disseminating child pornography from his residence.
An investigation revealed that Anthony C. Mignola, 51, of Shields Road in the town of Edinburg, received and sent inappropriate images of children from his computer and it is beleived that he has been engaged in such behavior for almost a decade, according to police reports.
Mignola was charged with promoting a sexual performance of a child younger than 17 years old, a class D felony, and possession of sexual performance of a child younger than 17 years old, a class E felony, according to police reports.
State Police say they were first advised of Mignola’s behavior after receiving information from the Internet Crimes against Children task force and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The Computer Crimes Unit acted immediately on the information received and a search warrant was executed at Mignola’s residence. According to police reports, Mignola has been living at the Edinburg address for three years and previously resided in the City of Albany. Mignola is also beleived to have coached several sports teams in the Albany area in the past, according to police reports.
Mignola was arraigned and remanded to the Saratoga County jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond and is due back in the Town of Edinburg Court on Nov. 15.
