An Albany County STOP-DWI blanket patrol by police over the Halloween weekend yielded 16 drunk driving arrests and four arrests for drugged driving.
The Albany County Sheriff’s Department and 11 other police agencies participated in the sweep. 1,214 traffic stops were made between Thursday evening and early Sunday morning. 5 of the drunken driving arrests were for aggravated DWI, meaning the accused had a BAC of .18 percent or higher. The average BAC of those arrested was just over .15 percent.
Two of the DWI arrests stemmed from crashes, one of which related in a fatality.
Police also identified 87 designated drivers and issued 550 summonses.
This was the 84th countywide blanket patrol since the program was started in 1989.`
