Colonie police arrested Solomon M. Winternitz, 31, of 86 Division St., Schenectady, for the misdemeanor charges of public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child earlier this morning, Friday, Oct. 22.
Colonie Police received a report on Sunday, Oct. 10, from a 15-year-old female that she observed a male masturbating in a vehicle as he passed her in the area of Sand Creek Road and Berkshire Drive shortly after 6 p.m. The only description given by the female at that time was a small black vehicle being operated by a white male, said police.
The female victim alleged observed the same vehicle on Monday, Oct. 18, on Windsor Drive and was able to get the license plate. Using the new information provided and the results of an investigation, police stopped the vehicle during the morning of Friday, Oct. 22, in the city of Schenectady and arrested the operator.
Winternitz was arraigned in Colonie Justice Court and remanded to Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,500 bond.
There are no other reports currently being investigated by Colonie police, but police are releasing the following information in case there are other victims who have not reported an incident to police. The Schenectady Police Department said there have been similar incidents in their jurisdiction and charges are pending.
Winternitz is employed as a cook at Romano’s Macaroni Grill, located at 1 Metro Park Road, off Wolf Road, in Colonie. The license plate number of his black, 2010 Hyundai Sonata is ECT8925.
