After an announcement on Oct. 15 that locally founded manufacturing company Albany International Corporation is moving its headquarters from Menands to Rochester, N.H., 46 District Republican Senate Candidate Bob Domenici acted quickly to place blame on incumbent Sen. Neil Breslin.
The news today that Albany International will be moving its headquarters out-of-state, along with hundreds of jobs, is certainly terrible for every Capital Region resident and points to the failed leadership of Neil Breslin in his role (allegedly) representing Albany County as well as his role as Deputy Majority Leader of the New York State Senate, said Domenici in a press release on Friday.
The company will be taking its management team, a total of eight to ten people, and move them to Rochester, leaving behind 150 employees in Menands.
Domenici further clarified the point he made in the release as he said this move will lead to the rest of the employees to make the trip the Rochester.
`Where management goes, the business goes,` he said. `That’s them saying they have no future here.`
He went on to add that various fees are what are driving businesses out of the state and said the state wasn’t doing enough the help Albany International Corp. to build composite materials.
`If we don’t have a vibrant private sector then we don’t have a tax base,` he said, `without it, we are doomed.`
Calls for comment from Albany International Corp. and Breslin, D-Delmar, have yet to be returned.“
