The Guilderville girls swim team had little trouble defeating Gloversville-Mayfield 112-72 in Friday’s dual meet at Voorheesville High School.
Guilderville swept the top two places in five individual events to pull away from Gloversville-Mayfield.
The lone surprise of the meet came in the 50-yard freestyle where Gloversville-Mayfield’s Justine Woodend defeated Guilderville’s Jenna Bickel by nearly three-tenths of a second, 25.13 seconds to 25.41 seconds. Bickel — who will be trying out for the U.S. Olympic swim team in 2012 — bounced back by winning the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.40.
Reynalyn Canchela won two individual events for Guilderville. Canchela claimed the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:07.20, and she won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:40.05.
Nicole Das (200 individual medley), Alexa Patnaude (diving), Kendall Cietek (100 butterfly) and Mackenzie Cietek (100 freestyle) also won individual events for Guilderville.`
