Friends of the Stanford Home stopped the historic house from being moved, at least for a while, with an appeal filed Tuesday, Sept. 28, against New York State Supreme Court Judge Barry Kramer’s decision on Sept. 3 that approved Highbridge Development’s plan to move the historic property.
Friends of Stanford Home argued the SEQRA approval process had been violated because the Niskayuna Town Planning Board approved the Highbridge’s plans to move the home, although, the original SEQRA review in 2007 said the building would remain on the original location.
The Order To Show Cause from the Court stated Highbridge is temporarily restrained from moving, building and altering the Stanford Home or its stone foundation in any way until a decision has been made on the appeal.
The Third Department of the Appellate Division of the state Supreme Court required all documentation to be sent to them from petitioners and respondents by Friday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m.
There isn’t going to be a hearing on the case, and a panel of five judges will review documents for both sides of the case. A decision could be reached on Oct. 8, or at a later date.
