The Shaker boys cross country team turned in a dominating performance at Saturday’s Green Mountain Lake Invitational in Pawling.
The Blue Bison — ranked first in New York among Class AA schools — won the boys championship division title with 45 points, 61 points ahead of runner-up Connetquot (Long Island).
Mike Libruk and Jon Vallecorsa took the top two places in the individual standings. Libruk finished first with a time of 16:16.08, and Vallecorsa was second with a time of 16:27.56.
Ryan Recchia (10th, 16:57.47), Casey Gilboy (14th, 17:01.01) and Christian Delago (19th, 17:14.26) rounded out Shaker’s top five.
In other weekend action, the Colonie boys cross country team placed second in the Santo Paniccia Varsity 3 division race at Saturday’s E.J. Herrmann Cross Country Invitational in Utica.
The Garnet Raiders had six runners in the top 20 on their way to a runner-up finish with 60 points. Cicero-North Syracuse won the team title with 33 points.
Ed Brown led Colonie with a third-place finish in a time of 17:08.8. Jordan Johnson was ninth with a time of 17:53.3, and Mike Sherry finished 14th with a time of 18:13.4.
Jon Holmes (15th place, 18:13.6) and Joey Geurds (19th, 18:27.9) rounded out Colonie’s top five runners. Tommy Hausman (20th, 18:31.6) was the other runner in the top 20.
In the girls Varsity 3 division, Loudonville native Catherine Maloy led Holy Names to the team title by winning the race in a time of 19:11.2.`
