The theme of Bethlehem’s Town Board meeting on Aug. 25 was how to accommodate the many pedestrians and bicyclists as almost an hour was devoted to the topic.
As a couple of stop signs were approved to be placed at the intersections of Brockley Drive and Orchard Street as well as Thorndale Road, Northwood Court and Southwood Drive, the Pathatways to Homes, Hamlets and Healthy Hearts Committee gave a presentation of their progress since their first meeting 17 months ago.
The committee was created to provide tools and suggestions as to how to improve the lives of pedestrians and bicyclists in an attempt to make the town a more viable candidate for grant applications
The committee developed approximately a 95 mile bicycle and pedestrian network, said Jason Gallo, co-chair of PaTHs 4 Bethlehem Committee. `The town should explore into making it more accommodating and safe for bicycle and pedestrian traffic.`
