The New York Army National Guard will be conducting training exercises with a UH-60 Blackhawk along the Mohawk River near the Colonie Town park tomorrow morning.
The Blackhawk will be armed with the Firehawk firefighting system, which is a 1000-gallon tank built with a spraying device meant to fight forest and brush fires if called upon by either state or local officials, according to a press release fromNew York Army National Guard.
The release also adds that the Firehawk system has been used since 2004 to aid local fire-fighters and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in fighting wildfires.
This training is similar to
last week’s
water bucket training conducted by the New York Army National Guard’s Latham Unit at the Garnsey airport in Schuylerville where a UH-60 Blackhawk used a 660 gallon Bambi Bucket to pick up water from and dump back into the Hudson River.
The training will take place between 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.“
