Guilderland slugger Matt Zanotta received first team all-star honors in Class AA from the New York State Sportswriters Association.
Zanotta set a Section II record with 18 home runs as he led the Dutchmen to the Section II baseball title and a trip to the state finals.
Zanotta was one of eight area players that earned all-state honors in Class AA. The others were:
Second team Branden Cogswell (Shenendehowa SS)
Third team Chris Kalica (Colonie P/SS) and J.P. Sportman (Rotterdam native/LaSalle 2B)
Fourth team ` Matt Sand (CBA OF)
Fifth team ` Matt Coleman (Saratoga P) and Steve Basile (CBA P/Inf)
Seventh team ` Derek Gardella (Shaker P/3B)
Additional honors went to Schalmont’s Joe Amorosi and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake’s Keaton Flint (fifth team all-stars in Class A); Saratoga Central Catholic’s Jack Keller (fourth team) and Dylan Anderson (fifth team) in Class B; and Loudonville Christian’s Alex MaLossi (third team) in Class D.“
