Shenendehowa pitcher Danielle Amyot and Bethlehem shortstop Mary Beth Dombrowski led a list of eight Section II Class AA softball players named all-stars by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
Amyot and Dombrowski were both named first team all-stars after leading their respective schools to the top of the Suburban Council standings this season. Amyot hurled numerous shutouts to lead Shen to an undefeated regular season record, while Dombrowski was the top hitter for Bethlehem, which won the South Division championship and reached the Sectional finals.
Shen catcher Maggie Quinn was a second team selection, while Niskayuna outfielder Megan Price was chosen to the third team. Shen third baseman Guilianna Figliomeni and Bethlehem pitcher Toni Edwards were named to the fourth team, with Saratoga pitcher Alyson Onyon and Colonie hurler Casey Rowland earning fifth team all-star honors.
Pitchers Dolores Mattice (Mohonasen) and Emily Ostrom (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) were named Class A all-stars. Mattice was a third team selection, while Ostrom earned fourth team honors. Schalmont second baseman/pitcher Bianca Bojarczuk was named a fourth team all-star in Class B.`
