Staples has an Easy button and now Saratoga County has an `Ask Me` button. If you have a question or need some help, just `press` the green and white button, which really means ask away.
The buttons will say `Ask me`I’m a Local` and is part of a new hospitality effort by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. They are meant to encourage visitors to ask local residents questions about Saratoga activities, attractions and directions.
Dalton said many first time visitors to the county are sometimes shy about asking a stranger for directions, tips or the best places to eat and see, because they don’t want to get a negative reaction.
`We hope to have dozens and possibly hundreds of Saratogians wearing these buttons and showing the true hospitality for which Saratoga is famous,` said Chamber President Joe Dalton.
The idea for an `Easy` button-eque campaign came from input from the Chamber’s Informatino Booth staff and greeters at the Saratoga Race Course.
Summer visitors are a big part of the region’s livelihood, said Dalton, providing summer jobs for local teens and paying more than $1 million in local sales taxes, which help keep city and county taxes low. Tourists also help keep notorious and popular attractions operating and help local specialty retailers and restaurants thrive year-round.
Buttons will be available at: The Adirondack Trust Company, Ballston Spa National Bank, Bank of America, Citizens Bank, First National Bank of Scotia, First Niagara Bank, HSBC, Key Bank, NBT Bank, Saratoga National Bank, and the Chamber offices and the Information Booth in front of Congress Park in Saratoga Springs.
