Police say six businesses in a Broadway building were burglarized over Memorial Day weekend from Saturday, May 29 to Sunday, May 30.
According to reports, Saratoga Springs police responded to the Arcade Building located at 376 Broadway to a report of several businesses having been broken into overnight on the morning of Sunday, May 30. The point of entry was found to be a rear window off of the alley that runs behind the building off of Phila Street. The suspect or suspects gained entry to the building by cutting a window screen and forcing the window open. Once inside, the suspect (s) forced entry into six businesses, taking cash and electronic equipment. Entry was also attempted at two other businesses, damaging the doors, but no entry was gained and nothing taken, said police. Police are not releasing the names of the businesses that were broken into.
Police have gathered some evidence from the scene that they hope will lead to the identification of the offender. The evidence will be sent to the State Police Forensic Laboratory in Albany for analysis and results are not expected for several weeks.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding these burglaries or may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area during the overnight hours Sunday night into Monday morning to contact them at 584-1800 or at the Saratoga Springs Police Crime Tip Line 584-TIPS (584-8477).
