State police confirmed that a 29-year-old Wilton woman died from injuries sustained in the one car crash the Spotlight reported yesterday.
A Wilton woman was in critical condition after a one car crash on I-87 at 10:47 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, according to State Police reports.
The driver, a female, was the only person in the car and police reports say her vehicle was driving in the left lane when it suddenly ran off the right side of the highway, struck several trees and overturned. The crash occurred southbound, just south of of Exit 16, and reports say the road surface was wet from a recent rainstorm, though the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was extricated from the car by a motorist, John K. Horton of Glens Falls, as well we three members of the state police who were in the area at the time of the crash, Tpr. John Healy and Investigators Robert Stampfli and Andrew Werner.
Reports say CPR was started immediately and the driver was taken by Wilton EMS to Saratoga Hospital, where she was still in critical condition until Tuesday evening when she died.
