Micheal Porter, 30, of Coons Road, Middleburg, was charged with Disseminating Indecent Material to a minor, a felony, on Wednesday, May 19, according to police reports.
According to a release from the department, Porter is accused of randomly sending text messages to an 11 year old female attempting to engage her in conversation. The victim did not know Porter and did not return his calls. Porter then sent a nude picture of himself to the victim which was discovered by her parent. The phone was turned over to Detectives at the Glenville police department where Detective William Gallop then, acting as the victim, engaged Porter in conversation though the texts, disclosing to Porter that he was a 13 year old girl. Porter asked for nude photos of the victim repeatedly and sent another nude and offensive picture by text to who he believed to be a 13 year old girl.
Detectives tracked the phone that Porter was using to a Wal Mart in Cobleskill where they were able to determine that he had purchased it there.
Porter was arrested by Detectives and sent to Schenectady County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 bail and is scheduled to return at a later date.
