The Glenville Town board accepted a bid from Epergy, LLC, for the instillation of solar panels, implementing monies received from a recent NYSERDA grant awarded to the town.
The grant of $100,000 will help to implement a photovoltaic system at the town’s municipal center at 18 Glenridge Road. During the Wednesday, May 19, meeting, the town accepted the bid from Epergy, LCC, an energy company based out of Schenectady, was the lowest bidder to the instillation of the solar panels and electrical setup at $66,276.88. According to Director of Human Services for the Town of Glenville, James McFarland, the town hopes that the additional money will be used to install and use more solar panels.
What our hope is since this was a very aggressive bid to talk with the lowest bidder for additional panels to increase the power of the overall system, said McFarland. Up to $90,000 can be used towards the instillation of the solar panels and the electrical system while the remaining $10,000 towards engineering services.
The 12,000 Kilowatt system should begin to be installed by the end of May and ready for use in June.

The town board authorized McFarland to hire one park security worker for May 22 through Sept. 30 at the rate of $8 per hour with no benefits.
The town board passed resolution to set an outside user water rate for Glenville Water District 11 with a rate of $3.73 per 1,000 gallons of water.
The board authorized Glenville Police Chief Micheal Ranalli to purchase one unmarked police vehicle at a cost of $16,000 and declaring the vehicle being replaced to be surplus property.
The town board tabled the resolution for a Vacant Buildings Registry in the town of Glenville until the next meeting on the grounds of a Municipal Homerule Law. The amended version of the proposed law must be on the desks of the town board members for at least seven days.
