The Shaker girls lacrosse team has been a sister act this season.
Three sets of sisters Adrianne and Maddie Devine, Charlotte and Anne Rehfuss and Lauren and Maddie Smith provided much of the offense in the Blue Bison’s latest win, a 12-11 Suburban Council victory over Shenendehowa last Friday in Latham.
The Devines accounted for one-third of Shaker’s offense as Adrianne Devine led the way with four goals and three assists, while Maddie Devine contributed an assist. Charlotte Rehfuss chipped in with two goals and two assists, while younger sister Anne added a goal.
Lauren (three goals) and Maddie Smith (one goal) also helped Shaker raise its Suburban Council record to 10-1 ` second only to defending champion Guilderland in the standings.
The Blue Bison looked to keep their winning streak going Monday when they traveled to third-place Niskayuna. Shaker had won five in a row entering Monday’s contest.
Shaker’s crosstown rivals at Colonie have also won five in a row entering Monday’s action after the Garnet Raiders handled Columbia 18-5 last Friday.
Lexi Brannigan scored six goals to lead Colonie (8-4 league, 8-5 overall) past a slumping Columbia squad. Ali Griffin contributed five goals, and Demmi O’Brey added four goals.
The Garnet Raiders entered last Friday’s game against Columbia off a 15-14 win against Saratoga Sprimgs last Wednesday.
Brannigan and O’Brey each tallied four times, and Griffin added a hat trick for Colonie. Sarah Campbell led Saratoga with four goals and four assists.
The Garnet Raiders played Guilderland Monday.
