Local police issued 39 tickets for people illegally parked in handicap spots during a Project Access sweep from Thursday, April 28 to Friday, April 29, according to the Albany County sheriff’s office.
The Albany Police Department and Colonie Police Department led the pack with 20 and 13 summons, respectively.
There were 16 municipal, state and private law enforcement agencies that took part in the saturation effort.
The 39 fines totaled $6,280, making the total $291,945 in levied fince since the program began. To date 2,090 summons have been issued since December of 1994.
