Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a suicidal person barricaded inside their Halfmoon home around 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, according to a State Police spokeswoman.
State police and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at 29 New Castle Road and found the resident, Samuel M. Yedigaryan, 38, inside with a weapon and refusing to come out. Shortly thereafter, a single gunshot was heard from inside the residence and several more within the next 30 minutes, according to police.
Police eventually made contact with Yedigaryan and convinced him to throw the gun and ammunition out the window onto the lawn, after which he ran out the back door and was taken into custody by the State Police Sort team without further incident, according to reports.
He was taken to Saratoga Hospital after he admitted to being distraught from personal problems and ingesting cocaine and
hydrocodone pills, said police. Yedigaryan was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd
degree(possessing a gun he was not licensed to possess) and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree. He was remanded to Saratoga County Jail until a court date can be scheduled.
