The Shenendehowa boys basketball team gets its rematch with Christian Brothers Academy.
This time, though, it will be for the Section II Class AA title.
The Plainsmen (20-1) pulled away in the second half to defeat Bishop Maginn 65-33, while CBA (20-1) handled Albany 64-43 in Tuesday’s Sectional semifinal games at Albany’s Times Union Center.
Bishop Maginn was within five points of Shen at halftime, but the Plainsmen went on a 20-5 run in the third quarter to break the game open. Shen capped the victory by outscoring Bishop Maginn 16-4 in the fourth quarter.
Matt Miner scored 21 points, and Manny Hernan-dez added 14 points for the Plainsmen, who lost to CBA in last year’s Sectional semifinal round.
Galal Cancer scored 15 points to lead the Brothers to their eighth consecutive Sectional final. Joe Krong had 12 points, and Kameron Ritter added 11 points.`
