An arrest has been made in the Dec. 11 early morning shooting of a 32-year-old man who entered Saratoga Hospital Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to the leg. Frederick W. Clark, Jr., 46, of 325 Washington St., was arrested by Saratoga Springs City Police on Thursday, Jan. 7.
Clark shot the victim after a dispute took place at Clark’s residence. Lt. Gregory Veitch said the investigation was quite complex and the argument wasn’t necessarily over drugs, despite the fact that Clark incurred drug charges following multiple searches of his residence.
There were multiple witnesses and many different stories. We had a couple different search warrants because we were looking for one thing the first time and then the investigation took a different direction the second time because of how information developed throughout the investigation, said Veitch.
Clark was charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Menacing in the Second, both felonys. He was also charged with Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation.
The assault and menacing charges are related to the shooting on Dec. 11 and the drug charges are based on items police found during execution of search warrants, said Veitch.
Clark was arraigned and remanded to the County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. Police have no update on the medical condition of the victim or Clark’s next court date.
