Gerard Parisi was appointed to the Rotterdam town board, replacing Micheal Della Villa, during a special meeting of the Rotterdam Town Board on Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Rotterdam town hall.
Parisi, the former town attorney for the Town of Rotterdam, will fill the vacant town board seat left open by town board member Micheal Della Villa, who resigned from his post on Dec. 16, according to town documents. Republican Town Supervisor Steve Tommasone thanked Della Villa for his time on the board, with the board taking his resignation unanimously.
I would just like to publicly thank Mr. Della Villa for his time on the board. He is one of the best people I know personally. He wears his heart on his sleeve and does a phenomenal job for the community serving on the Shalmont School Board as well. And I hope for the best for he and his family in the New Year, said Tommasone. `Its with some reservation that we accept his resignation.`
The board voted 3 to 1 to then appoint Parisi to the town board, with Mertz opposing the vote.
Parisi was then sworn in by Republican County Legislature and Chair of the Rotterdam IDA Angelo Santabarbara. Parisi will join the incoming town board who will be sworn in on Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Rotterdam Town Hall.“
