The Guilderland Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a holiday decorating event on Sunday, Nov. 29.
The Green Holiday Decoration Workshop will take place between noon and 2 p.m. and will cost $10.
Holiday garland will be made using `mixedgreens, pinecones, berries and ribbon,` according to information form the Parks and Recreation Office.
`We’ll be using fresh cut greens that come from found trees in the town,` said Linda Cure, public relations officer for the town.
The event will be hosted at the Parks and Recreation Office,181 Route 146 in Altamont across from Tawasentha Park and is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department and the town’s gardeners, Community Environment group, Cure said.
The decorations can be used as roping and garland for doors, and can be a versatile decoration, Cure said.
In previous years, the town has sponsored holiday centerpiece workshops but this year, Cure said, will be a change of pace.
`We’re looking forward to offering this to our residents,` cure said. `It’s kind of a fun thing to do before the holidays.`
A cost of $10 for materials will make a 10-foot evergreen garland and door swag, according to information from Parks and Recreation.
